11 Oct 2017 Latest News

New S-IMHA clinical member Christoph Herda, psychiatrist at United Family Hospitals and Clinics, was invited by New York University counselors to give a talk on mental health problems in university students.  In front of about 35 students, Dr. Herda, after a short introduction of his biography, summarized the empirical findings on students’ mental health and gave an overview of the most common mental disorders in young adults, namely Alcohol Use Disorder, Social Anxiety, Major Depressive Disorder, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Panic Disorder and Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder. By giving details on what a psychiatrist exactly does when he sees a patient, he tried to lower the barrier of seeing a psychiatrist and the stigma on mental disorders as a whole.
