Lucia Hu

Lucia Hu is an English and Mandarin bilingual Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist from the State of California in the U.S. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications from the University of California at Berkeley and her Masters in Counseling Psychology from the American School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University. Lucia provided counseling in Oakland, California, and in Beijing, before living and working in Shanghai with her husband and two kids. She has had experience working in private practice, in a center, a medical clinic, an international school, as well as traveling on-site for counseling, facilitating groups, and providing support through crisis situations.

Lucia provides counseling for individuals, pre-marital and marriage counseling, family counseling, including teens and primary age children. She has supported cases of anxiety, depression, grief, cross-cultural, generational, parenting issues, eating disorder, and spiritual issues. Lucia utilizes Cognitive Behavioral (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral (DBT), Emotion-Focused (EFT), and Narrative approaches as well as play therapy and sand tray work based on client age and specific client issue.
