Siyun (Sophie) Deng

Sophie is Mandarin-English speaking psychotherapist, and a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in New York State, USA. 

She received her Master of Social Work with Honors and Bachelor of Arts in Social Work with Honors from Fordham University in the United States. Since grad school, she has interned and worked at varies clinical settings, including two of the top 3 general hospitals in New York State (Mount Sinai Hospital and NYU Langone Hospital), a prestigious private mental health clinic in Manhattan, and an NGO serving women victims of human trafficking. With a great passion in mental health field and a strong commitment in serving people who are in need, she moved back to China in the Summer of 2021 to continue her journey as a psychotherapist. 

As a clinician, she has provided over 4500 hours of psychotherapy service to individuals, couples, and families. Her clinical focus is mood disorders, anxiety disorders, interpersonal relationships, self-identity development and cross-culture issues. She specializes in evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Motivational Interview. 

She truly believes that the feelings each of us is experiencing now is valid and deserve to be heard, so as our feelings from the past. Therefore, she is committed to create an open, empathic, and safe space to meet with clients at “where they are”, and for them to share their experiences, thoughts, feelings, fantasies, dreams, and bodily sensations as much as they feel comfortable.
