Dr. Paul Wang of SIMHA Presents

Dr. Paul Wang, president of SIMHA, Chair of Psychology, Acting Chair of Psychiatry at Shanghai United Family Hospital, was invited by SAS Pudong counselors to present on cross-cultural parenting on Monday 2/13/2017 to SAS parents.  During the talk, he addressed the cross cultural differences between the Western and Eastern culture and how it impacts attitudes towards education.  He also discussed some common presenting problem that gets referred to him from school and provided recommendations on how to address these common issues.  At last, he talked about the importance of understanding children’s emotional needs and how parents can help the child feel understood, validated, and supported before jumping into giving advices and consequences.  The talk was well received and the counselors plans to invite him back again to provide this training to SAS parents.
