Jie Zhao

Jie Zhao, born and raised in Shanghai, China, has always been interested in how people become who they are in relationship to other people and their environment. Jie completed her Bachelor of Arts and Science degree in Honors Cognitive Science at McGill University in Canada, and then moved to New York City to continue her studies at Columbia University and received her Master of Education and Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology. Jie is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in New York State, the USA, and has had clinical experiences at community center, college counseling center, group practices and EAP services for Fortune 500 companies. In 2022, Jie moved back to Shanghai and opened her own private practice in Huangpu District.

Jie has been trained in various modalities such as person-centered therapy, CBT, EMDR and multicultural approaches. Jie works with people from various cultural backgrounds including different nationalities, ethnicities, races, sexual orientations, socio-economic status, and etc. Jie utilizes techniques from different approaches and incorporates both Western and Eastern philosophies to better understand and help her clients.
